2nd Regional Workshop
11th - 12th July 2011
The 2nd Regional Workshop brought together experts in the wetlands of the Mekong - their rich biodiversity and the ecosystem services that they provide, especially the important livelihood uses for the people of the Lower Mekong Basin - together with experts on climate change, with knowledge and expertise in climate change modeling and adaptation mechanisms.
The workshop provided advice and guidance for the ICEM team undertaking this assessment, especially regarding climate change trends at the regional and national levels, the impacts of climate change and vulnterabilites of the wetlands in the Mekong basin, and current action being taken to maintain and protect the wetlands. The objectives of the Regional Workshop were to present initial findings from the case study sites; discuss specific characteristics of each wetland type and responses to climate change; discuss lessons and ideas from case studies; and dicuss the process for developing adapatation mecahnisms for the case study sites.
